Tour Sacred Valley Frequently Asked Questions
What will I visit on this Sacred Valley day tour from Cusco?
The route includes Pisac’s archaeological site and artisan market, a lunch stop in Urubamba, the Ollantaytambo archaeological complex, and a textile center in Chinchero. Together, these visits introduce Inca architecture, agriculture, and traditions that continue in the valley today.
What time does the tour start and finish?
Hotel pickup in Cusco begins at approximately 7:00 a.m., and the return is expected around 6:00 p.m. This is a full-day excursion, combining road travel with guided visits and a lunch break. Confirm your exact pickup arrangements before departure, and allow flexibility for traffic and the pace of the group.
Is this a group tour or a private tour?
The published itinerary operates as a shared group tour. You will travel with other visitors and follow a coordinated schedule at each stop. If you would prefer private transportation or more flexibility during the visits, contact our team to discuss a separate arrangement and its price.
How much walking is involved?
The tour combines transportation between destinations with walking at archaeological sites, the market, and the textile center. Expect uneven surfaces, stone steps, and uphill sections, particularly at Pisac and Ollantaytambo. Tell our team about mobility concerns before booking so we can explain the terrain and help you assess the route.
What makes Pisac and Ollantaytambo worth visiting on the same day?
The two sites offer different perspectives on Inca use of the valley. Pisac introduces extensive hillside terraces and archaeological sectors overlooking the surrounding landscape. Ollantaytambo adds monumental stone construction beside a town where parts of the Inca layout remain in use. Visiting both helps connect agriculture, architecture, and settlement within one region.
What will I experience at the Chinchero textile center?
The visit introduces part of the traditional weaving process, including washing wool, producing colors from natural materials, and weaving. Learning how these steps work gives you context for the patterns, materials, and craftsmanship found in Andean textiles. It is a demonstration visit; a hands-on weaving workshop is not specified.
Is lunch included, and can dietary requirements be accommodated?
A buffet lunch in Urubamba is included. The itinerary describes a selection of salads, soups, hot dishes, side dishes, and desserts. Tell our team about allergies or dietary requirements before booking so we can check the available options with the restaurant rather than assume every requirement can be accommodated.
Are archaeological entrance tickets included?
The current inclusion list specifies transportation, a guide, and lunch, but does not explicitly list entrance tickets. Contact our team before booking to confirm which admissions must be purchased separately and whether an existing Cusco Tourist Ticket can be used for the scheduled sites.
Does this tour include Maras, Moray, or Machu Picchu?
These destinations are not part of this itinerary. This route focuses on Pisac, Urubamba, Ollantaytambo, and Chinchero before returning to Cusco. If you want to include the Maras salt pans, Moray, or an onward journey to Machu Picchu, ask our team which itinerary best fits your available time.
What should I bring for the day?
Bring comfortable walking shoes, a light daypack, water, sun protection, a warm layer, and rain protection. Carry your identification, any required entrance tickets, and money for personal purchases or services not included. Keep your bag manageable, as you will carry it during the walking portions of the excursion.
